...what would it/they be?

1) late 70’s vintage Colt Diamondback 4” .38
2) late 70’s vintage Colt Series 70 Gov’t model .45acp

I traded the former for the later...then sold that one for tuition money. (Yes. College tuition at the University of New Orlens at that time was only $265 per semester) I remember the Diamondback was right around $200 brand new.

1) Ruger .44 magnum 50th Anniversary Flat Top model with 6 1/2" barrel.

This revolver was very accurate and was made when Ruger was still producing revolvers with care. Sold it only because I needed the money.

2) Colt Government Model Mark IV Series 70

Purchased this new in 1972. Very high standard of quality back then. It was my first new handgun.

I miss two, but have no regrets about parting with them.

I inherited my Grandfather's top break S&W in .38S&W that he carried under the seat of a horse drawn freight wagon
when he was a young man.

At the time the estate was divided up, one of my cousins was a Texas State Trooper working as a (deep) undercover narcotics officer.
What his Mom got from the estate ended up with his brother and sisters. He didn't inherit anything from our Grandparents.
I figured I'd looked at, and had enjoyed Grand Dad's old pistol long enough, and decided to give him a turn with it.

I also ended up with my other Grandfather's old Colt .38Spec. he'd bought used in the late 1920s or so.
He was a career lawman, and wore it on his belt for around 40 years.
I enjoyed it for several years, and gave it to one of my other cousins on his side of the family to cherish for awhile.

The only one that I wish would come back was a M-1 Carbine made during WWII by Rock-Ola, and was more or less unfired.
I'd inherited it from my Grandfather who kept it to carry on man-hunts for prison escapees in Mississippi.
It was stolen in a burglary back in the 80's.

Most of those that I sold or traded have since been replaced, but the 3 1/2 inch Model 27 that I got back in 75 still calls to me.

That was a darned good gun and it made me a good shot. But when my second daughter was born, my wife wasn't working and our health insurance had a 500 dollar deductible that had to be met, so the 27 went down the highway. I've never seen another when I've had money. I have a nice M-28 and a Colt Python now, but I still miss my old friend.

There have been several but these 3 hurt to think about:

1. 1st. issue Ruger standard automatic .22 bought new for $37.50
2. Winchester 1895 30-40 traded even for a new CZ 12 ga. double
3. S&W 6 1/2" 25-5 sold because I had a 4" & a 8 3/8" & thought I didn't need the 6.5"

Not many, and I have sold a lot as I downsized and rationalized my little arsenal.

Three I sold over 35 years ago, two Bullseye guns; a customized Hi-Standard Military and a customized S&W M52... and they could shoot. An Anschutz Running Boar rifle in .222. I really have no need for the Bullseye guns but a mentor tweaked them for me and they hold a lot of good memories.

I'm hoping one of the brothers or sisters has it, and appreciates it. And nearly every other firearm I've ever owned. Some guns I wouldn't mind having back would be my first Winchester 94 which had Monday morning workmanship but was very accurate, kept the freezer full, and never failed me. Oddly, my first pistol back about 1973 -was an H&R 950, 9 shot revolver, looked like a single action- but could be fired double. Made a good trade with it for a pistol I still have. But it always haunted me. Couple of years ago there was a nice one at a gun show- my hands still remembered it well. I've a few .22 revolvers, but that is the one that always grab nowdays.

With my Model 10-5, I have a feeling that I may be the new owner of someone's baby that they have let go for financial reasons. I'd certainly assure them that I'm doing my best to take care of it and I greatly appreciate the piece!

I'd certainly say that it would be a good plan to only sell your firearms if it's an economic necessity. What may have been a dime a dozen back in the day is now a highly sought after collector's item.

Around 1998, I had a 45 gun collection that included a large number of great firearms. My wife got sick and between her hospital bills and feeding the family, they had to go. The only guns I kept were my first rifle(Win 72A) and my father's shotgun(Iver Johnson 20 gauge single) both of which I still have.
At this point, there are only a couple I would like to have back. Most of the really nice ones I can't really use anymore due to physical limitations.

I could rattle off a long list of nice firearms I have owned over the years but what would be the point. Others have had much the same experiences as mine.

No regrets. Buy a gun, use it, maybe keep it, maybe not. Always something new to try. The gun in my collection the longest is a 617 .22. Maybe a few others that are close to me owning roughly 15 years. I never had an emotional attachment to a gun. Perhaps because none were ever gifted to me or passed on.

Actually got back my P14 Remington from a deceased estate, but like most people on this thread, there are lots I had to let go of due to circumstance. As a 303 British Wildcat collector, the ones that I have are getting much harder to replace, so i only sell one if a better example for a good price comes along. Having said that, I truly miss my M1 Garand. Got it as a wreck and replaced the damaged bits with custom made parts and aftermarket items. The more effort you put into something, the stronger the attachment. Really p***ed me off when i had to hand it in after the Military semi-auto ban came in and we were all forced by the Govt to give up our self loaders. Got back about 1/3 of what it was worth money wise, but that's not the point. Next to Zero chance I'll ever get another one that functioned and shot so well, even if they changed the laws.

There's really only one that I wouldn't mind getting back: An HK mod 4, West German police trade in. Came with both .22 LR and .32 ACP kits, was looking to get a .380 kit. Bought back somewhere in 1983-84. I had a good buddy who was an FFL back then, he sold it to for his cost $170.

Looked just like this with the box and .22 mags with the orange finger grips, .32 mags were black

While not hard to replace I hate that I sold my Springfield XD .45 service. Not once but twice. Crap happens when the doctor bills overrun income. Which drops to zero when you are self employed and the big C hits.

The second would be my Savage actutrigger in .270. It was the most accurate rifle I owned next to my .222.

I still have my early '70's Combat Commander for an EDC and a pre64 Winchester model 70 for hunting. So I'm not without just really liked those more but had less sentiment.

I cant imagine what it would be like without that diagnosis in 2014. But I'm better now time to get back to work.

out of your choices as much as I like 1911s id take that diamond back. Me out of all the guns i sold a 3 inch 610, my two kimber cdp's my 280 featherweight 70 my cdl 257wby and my trapper 357 win. Funny ive sold many high dollar custom revolvers but id take any one of these back first. One of my dumb trades is actually comming back tommarow. Its a ruger 77 rl 250 sav that was one of the rare 77s that was a real shooter. Traded it to my buddy and traded back for it and its comming home. bottom line is if i listed all the ones i got rid of id like to have back it would take paragraphs. I’ve never regretted buying a handgun but I’ve regretted selling a few. The handgun I want back was an original .357 OM Ruger Flattop 4 5/8” that Hamilton Bowen converted into a .45 Auto Rim. Such a beautiful fun gun that I sold to buy something else.

Great uncles WWII bring backs, his 1911 and someone he met’s Luger. I never saw them so maybe that doesn’t qualify, pops sold them to fund a vacation with his buddies before getting married.

I'd be inclined to second this thought.
My uncle was in transportation during WW2 landing at Normandy D+2, actually crashing as the C47 he was in crashed upon landing.
He brought back his 1911, a M1A1 and Bernadelli 25.
Sent home some(9) MP44's but they were stolen by postal service.
He did bring back a Bitish Sten 'de-milled' by someone in motor pool. It passed import inspection anyway.
Told my uncle I wanted to buy the M1A1 whenever we would talk firearms etc.
I was working for IBM at the time as an Account Systems Engineer making fairly good $.
My uncle sold the M1A1 on one of his trips to gunshow in Ohio.
Told me he didn't want me to spend that much ($300) on a rifle.:(
His Bernidelli was his last ditch protection, hidden on his person in his under drawers.
But the pistols and rifles I have had, I have extremely fond memories when they were transferred to others.
But all in all, life is good.

Kinda missed my mid “70’s” Charter arms nickel 44 bulldog. I didn’t/ couldn’t CC back then in college and was more afraid of getting in trouble. I 99% CC now and replaced that Charter-bulldog with the same vintage 4” target 44 bulldog. It’s my glovebox gun now.

2) S&W 686+ Talo Edition 6" revolver
3) Franchi 48AL engraved 12ga semi auto

Strangely, I don't own but one 22 lr pistol now.
I miss,
In order
4" Colt Match Target in box
6" Colt Match Target in box
4" H&R 999 in box
6" H&R 999 no box
4" Diamondback
6" Diamondback.

I sold them thinking I never shoot them. But I sure want them back. I will admit I traded the Diamondbacks for a 2.5" Python I still enjoy currently.

I’m not going to cry about stuff like Pythons or even Lugers. When I was a teenager I went through guns like Savage & North, Colt & Rem percussion pistols. Really nice European rifles and shotguns from WW2. Winchester 1886s in 33 Win, Win 95 in obsolete cals. At the time I had no interest and stomped that stuff out for pennies. I would take it to shows up in cities and use the proceeds to buy new stuff.

I wished I could have gotten my old High standard .22LR semi-auto pistol back. I do still regret selling it a lot.

While horse trading today seeing how hard it would be to get my old XD back I got my 24" heavy stainless upper back for some ammo. So I'm going to keep working on him.
