I am after a #3 extended shellholder, for caseforming. These shellholders are getting hard to find. Backordered just about everywhere, even directly from RCBS. I found a #3 Competition shellholder listed from by online vendor. I think they are extended also, but are they the same?

GB-The RCBS extended shell holders l have can't be used for decapping because there is no hole to eject a spent primer. Their intended use is for seating boolits

Extended shell holders may or may not be ok in case forming. The rim on my extended holders is much thinner than my #3 rim used for resizing. l believe a thinner rim allows a bit more room fingers while seating. ''PINCH BITE'' from a RockChuck press ain't no fun:(

Checked the RCBS extended shellholders I have and I agree with sw282, they are not meant for decapping brass. You might look here though

I don't believe these are meant for decapping either.

I don't want to use for decapping, but for case forming only. It looks like the Vickerman shellholders do not grip the case head, but just cups them. How would you remove a case from a die if it doesn't fall out? I guess you could make it work if you had to. Maybe use a punch to push out a sticky case.

After much searching, I stumbled across a Redding Extended shellholder at Midsouth. I ordered it. I will get by with it. The shortages today aren't just in the ammunition and loading components, it's all over, in this industry. Who would have ever thought there would be a run on extended shellholders?
