Looking for a good mold/bullet design for a modern 44-40 revolver with .429 bore. Would like to keep weight between 195-210gr and it would be great if I could also use it in my 44 Special. Would also like as much meplat as practical. Any recommendations?

Accurate 43-206H is my design for the exact purposes you have in mind. Intended as a "modern" .44-40 bullet, but also useful as a lighter bullet in .44 Special and .44 Magnum, feeds well in the lever-actions too.

The .44 Special target and the two 50m groups on one bull fired from 1873 Winchester were sent to me by other users who had ordered the mold from Accurate. Independent validation.

In my S&W 544 44-40 I have used the Lee 429-200 RF with good results. Mine casts right about .4295. It feeds well in my 44 Mag. Marlin Cowboy, but casts too small for good accuracy. That rifle needs a .431 - .432 bullet for good accuracy.

For as wide of a meplat as possible without being a full wadcutter, have a look at Accurate’s 43-215V. I use it in 44-40, 44 Special and 44 Magnum. It’s a thumper!

I shoot a lot of Lee 200 grain RNFP.

Thanks for the recommendations.

Outpost75 - do you think that your mold would be a good fit for a S&W 544?
