Converted one side of a Lee 457-450 mold yesterday. I am hoping to get some decent expansion at sub velocities out of a 458 socom. I may have to open up the nose a little more to achieve what I am looking for. These were cast from ww just to see how they would come out. Anyone have any experience with large bore hollow points? https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210104/4291f822339c0c582157fe99a103c14d.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210104/bb570d84275307d0addd5164fea875a6.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210104/86ef2c00f90cdd3c33a96e5e2ffe2c7d.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210104/4cd27887bdb2bffd7a6fee7f21579cee.jpg

I did the same with a 525 grain mold. Converted to 500 grain HP for 458. I can’t seem to get picture to upload, but my pin is real deep. My water test opened up to 1.12”

Doesn’t look as clean as yours. But it come out good. It is an RCBS 45-530-RN mold.

I believe Eric at Hollowpoint mold service does but you might check his website.
Good Luck,

Come on Yooper! It is good for a lifetime. Maybe two or three. If you do the math, if you can get a 500 grain bullet traveling 1000 fps to spread out and transfer all energy into the target, it would be the equivalent of hitting your target with a 10 lbs bowling ball at 57 miles per hour.
Totally worth it.

There is a sticky in Cast Boolits on hollow pointing your own without a full machine shop. I've 4 with no problems

That sticky is right above this thread in this category. Not in Cast Bullets
