I have quite a few fired cases with head stamp OFV . 00 7.62 M 80
Could anyone tell me if they were primed with corrosive primers?
Thanks Papa

I do not believe they are.
It is mostly Berdan Primers in milsurp now.
I think I read they switched to non-corrosive back in the '50s.

That is Indian 7.62 nato. I have 4 cans of OFV 74 that is good shooting and none corrosive. If you buy it loose or in plastic bags you may have bad ammo. The good ammo is in sealed ammo cans and the scrap stuff is loose. Look on the M14 forums for the exact headstamps. OFV 74 is good brass and reloadable.

It is made in the ordance factory varangaon in India. I did a google on the ammo and found that there were a lot of complaints on this stuff, falure to fire is but one. Bill

I find some of the primer pockets are a tad loose. Not chronically but I only use them for light loads.

I've had some of those cases here for 18 years; no sign of corrosion. Primers were crimped in but not difficult to remove.

They have been reloaded ok by me, still using some.

John.
