She probably 61 or 62. Talked to her husband last night they were going to do stints but to much blockage, surgery today to decide what they were going to do. they have her on blood thinners now, which wont make surgery any easier. And She is diabetic. Will text this evening. But dont want to interrupt when they are with doctors.

They were at daughters in Indiana for New Years and she wasnt feeling good. They waited and went back home to Michigan in the afternoon and then to hospital.

Prayers for your SIL. Hope all turns out well. With today's surgical procedures, doctors, and medicines, I have faith it will.

It’s really about how much damage has been done to the heart muscle, not just the blockage percentage. Six years ago I had three stents put in and I was 98%, 97%, and 87% plugged with no muscle damage. I had a lot of collateral arteries built up because of the duration of the blockages. I made a full recovery with no restrictions. Your SIL may end up doing OK once she gets the blockages removed either by stenting or bypass. I wish her the best.

My pop had a 5x bypass at about the same age. Hes 75 or so now, and has not slowed down one bit.

Yesterday she had 5 bypasses done. When I called in the evening she was still on ventilator but doing well and resting comfortably. Brother in law said they took veins from arms legs and chest. Supposed to have her up today.

One thing a lot of doctors dont mention, depression is a VERY common side effect of surgery.

Please let her know this is very likely to occur, and it's normal. She will feel helpless and dependent on everyone around her, and it brings into focus how fragile we really are.

She needs a good comfortable recliner, because she may have to sleep sitting up during rehab.

Depression can also be a side effect of the pain meds, and is CERTAINLY part of the withdrawls when she stops taking them.

The people caring for her will have to be aware of this, and very patient.

Glad to hear she made it through the surgery without any major complications. Now it’s wait and see. Doctors and surgeons can do amazing things these days.

Called to check on her last night She is home and doing very well. Has more energy than she has in several years. Healing up well from the operation ( with her diabetes wounds healing can be an issue). She sounded good and up beat.

I Thank -you one and all for your prayers and support.
