I have a BFR 7 1/2" in .500 and my favorite plinking load is 12 of Unique under a Montana Bullet Works 375 gr. SWC. Average velocity is 1075 fps and recoil is very mild. The BFR clocks a little higher in velocity than my Smith did (sold it) because, I think, of the long cylinder and small b/c gap. While I call this a plinking load...it was punching big holes through 12 to 14 inches of live spruce tree while target practice shooting in the woods...

I've used 15.0 grains of Unique under a 350 grain FNGC design with great results. It is very mild recoiling and can't be more than ~1200 fps or so, but is extremely accurate out of my 8 3/8", 4x Leupold scoped X frame. I killed a cow elk with this combo in '06.

I just shot a bunch of Lyman 375gr SWCs through my Handi rifle using 17.5gr of Unique. It clocked in at 1360fps avg according to the new Chrony. Nice load, not too much recoil. Also shot some 29gr of 2400 and it was around 1680fps.
