I have a couple lbs of Alliant Power Pistol powder and a hankering for some 500 Linebaugh. Alliant lists a load for the 480 Ruger with a 275 gr bullet. Would this be a safe starting load for 500 Linebaugh with a 350-400 gr bullet making up the difference in case capacity? My goal here is safe, preferably mild loads for casual shooting, not top end loads for lengthening a bovine. Gun is a Bowen Redhawk conversion with their 5 shot cylinder.

I don’t know what the starting loads for a 500 Linebaugh is but I am sure you can use power Pistol.
I don’t know the powder capacity of either cartridge but if it is similar you should be safe to start there with a strong pistol like your Redhawk.

Here's some Hodgdon data if that helps any.

Yes I know about the Hogdon loads but I'm out of H110 and want to save my Trailboss for an old British .450 single shot I have. I have this Alliant PP and am wondering if I can use it up on 500 Linebaugh.

Can I extrapolate the PP powder charge to Hogdon powders using equivalent data for 44 Magnum and compare those to Hogdon loads for both the 44 Mag and the 500 Linebaugh? Minimum starting loads of course
