Daisy BB Packaging

I apologize as this is a little off-topic, but I found this tube of Daisy BB's inside the butt stock of a 1928 vintage Remington model 11 I recently purchased. I'm just curious if anyone is familiar with Daisy and knows roughly when this packaging design was used?

Looks like the package for BB's I had in the late 1950's and early 1960's.

yeah really up to the early 90s . still around on the net. big problem you may see is some rust. would pour out and spray with wd 40 and dry

Doesn't really matter, I just think it's really cool finding old things that have been tucked away and forgotten like that.

Nothing more frustrating for a youngster than getting a new BB gun for Christmas with one tube of BBs and all the stores being closed for Christmas...……………..

The original tubes that I recall back in the late 40s were red all over. Then, they changed and made a two color tube. Somewhere along the line, they changed to a plastic/cellophane package which was a PITA as once you opened it, there was no way to secure the top and you lost BBs. Then they put out a smaller pack with about 30 BBs in it for a penny. These were cooler than all get out and they came attached in a single belt and you could make a bandoleer for a while until the cellophane broke.

BBs were hard to get in the late 40s on account of the war. Finally, mom stumbled on to some lead BB sized shot at a local hardware and that tided me over until they started producing BBs as we know them. Higher trajectory on account of the weight but the sectional density enhanced short range performance. The good old days./beagle

I bought some of those cardboard tubes at W-world as stocking stuffers this Christmas. They were yellow with black cap but the printing was quite different.

I think if you could email a pic to the Daisy Museum they could rattle off a date pretty easy.

Anyone remember the small film wrap packages? About 100 in a pack. And before that the Western Lead air rifle shot in the old yellow tube.

That is a neat surprise to find. Boy do those tubes bring back memory's. I got my 1st BB gun in the 70s. It was a daisy pump. My dad told it will split a pop cicle stock.

There are a bunch of these on evilbay right now but they are pricey for what they are.

According to "Daisy the First 100 Years"... 1928 was the first year for the tubes and the cellophane packets date from about 1949. The earliest tubes were marked Bullseye in both large and small and the later ones were the yellow tubes. Silver tubes started in the 1980's .
