Got this mold for Christmas, RCBS 45-300-FN, and just wanted to pass on how it was casting to anyone who cares.

My alloy is 50/50 wheelweight/pure lead and some tin added for fill-out.

Weight is averaging at 329-330 grs. and the as cast diameter is .458".

Mold drops boolits nice and free when casting.

Will be used in my JM Marlin 1895, ballard rifling.

So far, so happy!:-D

They should be 0.458 - 0.460". Are you sure of that 0.428" measurement?

That is an excellent mold, and I think you will enjoy shooting the bullets it produces. In combination with your Marlin, it should be a fantastic deer and black bear package. At least it works out that way for me.

By the way, I use several commercially available powders, as well as a couple of mil-surp powders. All shoot well.
