As the title suggests, let's share our pleasant surprises. Here's my combination Birthday/Christmas present, a Browning .380:smile:. I'll have to dig out my 356-242 and cast up some boolits.

Hi...
Nothing gun related this year. I did get a new recliner, a spotlight and a lot of gift cards.
My son received an AR armorer's block, a set of gunsmithing tools and pin punches along with clothes and a lot of gift cards.

Wife got a lot of nice gifts and a lot of gift cards as well
Both Labs got a new chew toy.

Everybody has been well and properly spoiled once again at Christmas which is the norm.

My son tells me that I have some additional gifts coming via UPS or FedEx or USPS or Pony Express.

No firearms or firearm related objects. But, my wife got a brand new remodeled kitchen so she can cook delicious meals, so I can eat well, keep my strength up to make it to the gun club on a regular basis. Does that count?

EDIT.....................

Things REALLY changed later on Christmas day! At 2:45pm the power grid in our section of town went down for almost 3 hours. So much for that 10# prime rib roast that just about went into the oven!!!!! And to top that off, the toilet in our guest room plugged up and overflowed, flooding the entire room with (used ! ) water 1/2" deep. So I spent the afternoon mopping up by flashlight and planning on what to do. Power finally came on and we cooked the roast. Best one ever, even though we ate at 8:00 PM!

Saturday, one of the sons came over and we removed the old toilet, (I) dug out the spooge plug that was the cause, and replaced the 30 year old toilet with the new high-end one the wife had been asking for, so she got a toilet for Christmas (in her "office" as we call it!) Thank goodness we still had two other full bathrooms to use during the entire mess.

------------------end of edit--------------------------

Nothing. The wife and I buy what we want when we want and do not worry about holiday or birthday gifts. The boys are coming over for dinner later (prime rib roast) and they will bring "stuff" from my list I gave them.

The only gift was another day of life on this earth.

Bought myself an old 1924 Winchester Model 12 to make into a riot gun. It’s got a bad buttstock and a cutts comp so I’m not wrecking anything truly valuable.

I got a new Ruger Single Six Bisley 32 H&R earlier in the month and I'm busy accessorizing it. Who knows how far I'll end up going. I haven't even shot it yet as the USPS has been holding different pieces (that were sent off for work) in hock. At least DHL still delivers MP Molds most quickest...

Not what I got, but what 12-year-old grandson got. His mother (my daughter  ) is an ultra-woke, anti-gun, Trump-hating hyper-liberal schoolteacher, but somehow hubby snuck a Red Ryder BB gun under the tree! Is this a sign, however small, that she's coming around? Maybe in another coupla more years, can I gift him a nice Weihrauch? (Don't wanna rush it.) Watch this space. . . . . . .

I got a new Husqvarna 450 chain saw as far as gifts go .

The real joy was finding a brand new 7×57 Savage barrel that has been lost for most of 5 years . What it was doing in Mom's house in the upstairs bedroom is beyond me . I also found another Uniflow attached to a cast bench mount . Dad's loading gear is spread around all over the place . Every time we dig into a closet or cubby we find something else .

I guess a barrel , a powder measure , and a new saw makes for a pretty good Christmas .

I picked up my new Ruger 57 the other day. No 5.7x28 ammo to test it but the once fired and dies did get here. We had a nice Christmas. Spent another almost two hours on the phone with Verizon because they changed something on Christmas eve fixing something with my new iPhone 12 mini and I could not make wifi calls nor send texts to android phones. Very poor signal here. Long story short told me the wifi calling that I had working the last four years over three different phones was a fluke and to drive 50 miles away to a real Verizon tower and try some stuff. I tried. Ore stuff on my own and two hours later got it working again. Hah. Merry Christmas as the rest of the day was great.

Daughter's family and my wife and I have ultra quarantined ourselves for the last two weeks so we could have an indoor Christmas day together. Best Christmas ever!

Got to see grandson's face light up with a new high end fishing rod and reel, same for granddaughter with new riding boots.

Had a long video chat with son and granddaughter in HI.

Didn't need material goods to make me happy.

A wonderful dinner party with 2 dear friends on 12/23, and brunch on 12/24 with our son and our daughter and her boyfriend and their dogs. Finally a peaceful Christmas Day with my wife and our Golden Doodle and all his new toys.

Bought a few things for myself during the month:

1. Burris 2x8 signature scope, bought on SS here.
2. Lyman 358425 two hole, bought on SS here
3. M1916 El Paso Saddlery holster bought on eBay

Feeling very blessed and looking forward to a better 2021 for everyone.

Hi...
A few days ago I mentioned that my son said that a couple of my Christmas gifts were still in transit.
Yesterday he picked up from a LGS a revolver that he bought off GunBroker for me.
An unaltered 3 screw Ruger Blackhawk in .357Magnum with a 6-1/2" barrel.
This is my second 3-screw...the other is a .41Magnum which is superbly accurate.
Can't wait to get out to the gun club and see how this one shoots compared to my other three Blackhawks in .357Magnum.

The best gift possible, another day to celebrate the birth of Christ. Next, another year with my more than precious wife.

Stuff that rusts and rots and thieves break in and steal....a Merkel O/U double rifle in 8 X 60R and a fully restored 1967 Morris Minor 1000.

So, why restore a Morris Minor instead of something 'interesting' like an MGB or even an MGTD?

I like the Merkel though :)

You can bring home groceries in a Minor. And at my age a Minor would be lots easier to get in and out of.

I don’t recall seeing a M. Minor since the 60’s. One of our neighbors had a red one. I remember seeing a white one around town as well. I think those are the only two I’ve ever seen. So, I would say that that a 1967 M.Minor IS interesting.

Grew up near Boston. Minors weren't as common as fleas, but there were a few around Cambridge. Always assumed that college types had brought them back after their year at Oxford. Wish cars were still as simple as they were.

Anybody ever see an MG Magnette? An older cousin was a car salesman - around 1964 or so he dropped by driving one. Let me drive it. It was nice. More upscale than a Minor. I never saw another one.

All five of us kids learned how to drive in Dad's little Morris Minor pickup. The clutch didn't release till the last half inch of travel and the brakes required pumping. No matter we were on the farm. I loved that little truck.
Just glad to be alive, I asked for no gifts( you know how that goes....)
I got some anyway!
