Always keeping my eye open for certain milsurps, this 98 popped up in town and seemed like a fairly honest specimen of the breed. I'll figure out the rest later, has a nice shiny bore still and for $650 I couldn't hesitate....... I like still using them so the uber purist thing doesn't bug me.

Always wanted a K98 but around here the dog robbers seemed to think they were made out of gold. So having said that lucked out on two 8mm's. One is a Yugo M48BO and a beautiful Persian Mauser 98/29. That one cost less than what Samco was selling them for at the same time. The Yugo is what I refer to as my hairy M48BO. Stock was never finish sanded and is in almost mint condition. Frank

As most turn of the century military hardware dries up, these things are likely to get even more expensive. From a very practical perspective, the amount of total American gun owners interested in these rifles is far larger than the existing supply, so this sort of thing is inevitable.

I'm no expert but that looks like quite the fine condition rifle!

Is the step in the front ring a "dou" thing?
