I have had a tall Harris bipod since the 1980s. I extend the legs manually, they retract when I push the buttons. They have wheel nuts to adjust for slopes. Love it.
I inherited a short model with notches on the legs. When I push the buttons on the legs, they spring out and lock into place. However, when I want to retract the legs, they must be pushed back into place. Is this normal for the short model? It is stamped with the Harris name, so I don't believe it's a knockoff.
I've researched on the web, but can't find the answer.
What say you?
Thanks in advance.

I have several of the ones you are talking about, and the ones with notches are manual retract, solid legs auto retract. Mine are probably 20 years old, I don't know about current models. I think Harris are still the best, lightest and most reliable - never had one fail.

Yes that is normal. It's the leg notch model.

I much prefer the leg notch models for hunting or shooting prairie dogs.

Thank you so much, gentlemen. That is what I needed to know. I always preferred the tall one to see over the grass while sitting; this short one will be for the bench and truck hood!
Merry Christmas!

Yes, the Harris has been the gold standard for decades.
