I finally got some time to work on my lead supply. I mixed up 50 pounds of 25-1 for my .45acp. I also fired up my new propane tank pot to clean and pour about 125 pounds of lead pipe ingots. It will keep my busy for a while.
Here's some of it waiting to cool a bit. 273826

I have about 120# of range scrap I need to process. You have motivated me.

Nice piles.
I recently did some smelting. I don't have the patience to use small ingot molds.

Nice set of ingot moulds. Appears to be two types, angle iron and flat rectangle. What does each ingot weigh? I like the smaller ones for melting in my pot and mixing hard, range and soft.
I have the Lyman 1 pound ingot moulds and several of the cast iron corn pans. When I was just using the 1 lbers I labeled them like you did. Now I am going to try three different moulds, the lymans for range lead, corn for hard lead and something else I haven't determined for the soft stuff. Writing on all those 1 lbers is a pain.

Nice set-ups guys! I melt 350-400# at a time and run 8 of the Lyman style molds. I save up my scores all year and have a big melt at the end of the Winter before it gets hot.

The weight varies with alloy and how full the mold was poured
PURE rectangle - 3#, triangle 2#
PIPE rectangle - 2.8 - 2.9#
RANGE rectangle - 2.6-2.9#, triangle 1.8-2#
rectangle - 1.75"x 5.25", triangle 1.25" x 5.25"

What is your casting setup that allows you such huge ingots? Even in my Magma, about 4# ingots are all I want to add to the pot. Everything else is 1#-2#.
