I picked up a bucket of weights yesterday at the local tire store and sorted them this morning. I ended up with 95% lead where it usually runs 60-70%. I'm happy with the 60-70% but 95% is unheard of! I'm also seeing more steel and less Zinc. I need to make a donut run sometime soon!

The man who can find pleasure in the small scores is a happy man indeed!

What's that phrase, now? Ah, yes, "pleasantly suprised".

Congrats on a satisfying day. Oh, and have a merry and a happy.

This little shop is good for a bucket every 4 to 6 weeks but the yield is usually in the 60-70% range. Thats pretty good nowadays but I was really surprised with 95%.

Wow… that's awesome. I recently acquired two 5 gallon buckets and ended up with about 90%. The mechanic told me he doesn't do tires often. So those buckets were in the shop for about 15 years. I ended up with 202lbs of COWW and another 18lbs of SOWW.

I found some Lino type on FB marketplace this weekend. 50 dollars took it home and it was 61 lbs. Not this sounds like a really good deal but then my daughter found out I had letters and she made her name her BF name and her 2 kids name. Gave a guy down the street about 10lbs to for Christmas. He was a happy camper. so I don't know ho much I have left. But it was still a good deal. Oh and the guy I got it from said he didnt want it to go to bullet casters. I didnt tell and he didnt ask. Im good with that to.

I think that you have someone there who is presorting for you. Or, were these the big truck weights? There has to be an answer, statistically it is improbable that the percentages would change that much. Which ever way, you should bring those guys a box of donuts!

Its possible that they had a slow day and one of the guys had some free time but I have not talked with any of them about how to sort. The wheelweight bucket sits near the stove and thats where they would be if they were not busy. I'm happy with the 60-70% yield that I usually see given that a lot of guys quit chasing weights because of the high amounts of non-lead. It made me wonder too!

My son manages a tire store in my neck of the woods. I asked him what he does with the WW, he said nothing. I am going down there and see what he has on hand
and see if it is worth the trouble. If I could get 60 to 70% yield, I might just feed that boy a steak dinner.

Good Luck. I hope it turns out to be a good source for you.
