Greetings,
I just built a .300 blackout AR pistol, with 7.5" barrel, and I'm looking to make some subsonic rounds for it, as I plan on running a can. I've seen load info for the 230 gr. Lee missiles, but not for this Elvis Ammo mold, in subsonic. Is it too light a boolit to make into subs?

Most likely will not function at subsonic velocities

Will work fine with pistol powder but won't cycle. I went to 170 PB with 2400, 850 fps. Mine is 10" pistol, 145gr is on the edge for sub and cycle, like 8gr cfe pistol. Probably work if you drill the port to max. 170 gr gives a good thump sub and no real recoil. I've pushed to 1400 for more thump and still not too loud & lite recoil. I push the 145gr much faster.

Just finished a load for 8.5 inch barrel with 208gr MP hollow point with 9.0grs of 4227 works like a charm. I think the 145 is going to be a little light.

try the NOE 311 247 fnpb PC'd with 8.2g h110 in LC cases and CCI SRP works great

ETA: same load cycles and shoots good in multiple ARs (8to16)and a rem 700 AAC

You can make anything subsonic problem is that on AR platform it wont cycle. Even with pistol gas length. You will need something around 190gr+ in order to cycle AR. I did load couple 160gr with full case of trail boss just to see and they were nice quiet subs super soft no idea on speed but I had to cycle my AR manually because it was bolt action now with those basically.

Thanks for all the replies guys, good info. I decided to put the elvis mold on the back burner for now, and was going to get the Lee 230 gr. Missile, but of course their sold out everywhere. I did come across a Lee Precision C309-200-R Double Cavity Mold, which is kinda sorta like the 230 gr.(obvious differences, besides just weight), and was wondering has anyone used that boolit to make some .300 blackout in subsonic?

Or look at a ranchdog style 170-180 gr PB. Yes, even the short barrel will do OK for long distance but YOU won't. I.E. the sharp nose really doesn't do any good in that short barrel. The large meplat of the RD will give some real thump and with 8gr 2400 it will cycle. NOE has a copy of it.
6gr of hp38 is safe per QL, 8gr is also but not sub.
