A friend has a semi auto Sten and has helped me with some machine work on some of my projects. I want to do something for him and loading some ammo for his Sten might be a good place to start. I looked up a historic page and they claimed that the ammo issued with the Sten was 115 grain. I want to pick a bullet mold but want to be able to load for my daughters Ruger pistol and my 9mm AR as well. Could one of you suggest a mold in the 115-124 grain range that might be able to work for all three? thanks mark

That looks like a good mould to use. It should be noted that the Brits also used 124 grain bullets in 9mm as well.

Shot lots of Lyman 356402s and Lee 120 TCs through various sub guns including Stens w/o any problems.

I'll second the 356402. Shot a load of them in the Swedish K and sent a bunch to a friend in VT for a K. No complaints./beagle

Another vote for the Lee 120 TC or any clone of that style.

The 120 gr TC is probably the most "universal" 9mm Luger bullet you will find. Functions in just about anything, the right weight, good accuracy in most guns - An All-Around winner for the caliber.

If you look at pics of the old German subgun ammo in 9MM it is nearly identical profile of the Lee TC 120gr.

Thanks so much guys. I was at the DR with the wife and looked on my phone for one. Looks as if they are unavailable, but I will keep looking.

EMC45 where in East Tenn are you? I was born in Johnson City. Just got back a couple of weeks ago, put Dads ashes in the ground next to Mom in Jonesborough.

Lee 120 TC works in everything as long as the diameter is correct.

Any quality cast bullet, properly lubed, and in that approximate weight range will work easily and accurately. I owned an original MP40 for many years and almost exclusively shot reloads using an old LacMiller 120 TC, lubed with alox....got excellent accuracy and 100% reliability. Powder was Unique mostly, but I varied that with what I had available.

The singular gripe I had with that gun was the single position feed arrangement.....your Sten has it also.....kinda similar to the M3 in that you will garner a blistered thumb if you don't have a loader..........By the way, Sten mags can be easily modified to fit the 40, I did till I could find sufficient originals.

What Larry said. H&G#7 or clone, water dropped WW if barrel is rough, size .357, 4 grains of Bullseye.

My dads family was from the Clinch River valley and was displaced by the dam. The most of them settled in Maynardville. Moms folks were from the Jonesborough area.

Yep, it’s the mold I am going to get when I find one for retail for sten, Uzi, Mac, MP40 and several handguns.
