I have been perfectly happy pan lubing bullets but because of you all I have decided to take the PC plunge. Just got off the phone with the nicest lady and ordered some of Smokes clear powder coat and air soft bbs, got a cheap Walmart convection oven, silicone mat and strainer.
Guess I will see how this goes.

Make SURE you also get a Digital Temp Probe (https://www.walmart.com/ip/ThermoPro-TP08-Wireless-Remote-Kitchen-Cooking-Meat-Thermometer-Dual-Probe-for-BBQ-Smoker-Grill-Oven-Monitors-Food-from-300-Feet-Away/111531014)...
... and wait for the oven to stabilize before putting the bullets in.

I ordered a cheap oven thermometer that seemed to have good reviews.

Welcome to the madness
I would look into getting some kind of heat sink to put in the bottom of your oven (I use ceramic BBQ briquettes, others use lava rock, glass, firebrick, --- this help your oven recover and get back to temp faster after being opened.

HF tweezers or surgical gloves (pinch the PC before moving boolits)

don't quench before PC and keep the boolits clean until PC (if I'm not PCing right away I put the boolits in a zipper bag(s) for later)

sometimes it's hard to tell the boolits are coated with clear :)

Its an un-curable sickness. Run before it gets you. I just added to the collection. Too late for me.

Targa-- welcome to PC. I also use Smoke's clear and airsoft and a Walmart oven. I don't use an oven thermometer. There are a couple of tricks to getting consistency. One, is to always coat about the same number of bullets in each oven load. It takes heat to warm them up, so if you do about the same number each time you will get better consistency. Once you find the oven temp that works for your preferred batch size you can then use the same setting and same cook time and will usually get the same results. It's all about finding what settings work for you and then same, same same. I don't use an oven thermometer because I lucked out and found good settings first time.

I PC less than 50 at a time in my little toaster oven. I checked the thermostat on the oven with a good thermometer and it happened to be exact (surprised me). So, it's easy to do each load the same just using the dial settings.

Well all, thank you for all your tips and tricks. I coated my 1st batch today and if the powder coating is as effective as traditional lubing after firing I might drop the pan lubing all together. I can see Carolina blue rearing it’s head in the not so distant future.

Unless you're shooting the Holy Black you won't need lubing any more.:guntootsmiley:

If there are no pictures then it didn't happen :)

Glad you got it to work, you won't miss the sticky lube and when you start blending colors you'll really become addicted.

Oh ,Targa, you won't like those, you better send them to me to use. Nice job they look great. What Mehi bullet if I may ask? Look kind of like the 433244.

It is the C432-250-RF Larsen Minerat . I know you were kidding a round about sending bullets your way but I am just down the road from you in Castle Rock and would gladly give you some. Hey, any reason to cast more bullets is good enough for me, I think I like casting them as much as shooting them...:-P

Yup, just kidding ya but thanks for the offer. I have enough of the 244's and some NOE 432-277(K)'s to shoot, but right now I cast more then I shoot too.
