I bought a Stevens 417 in 22 hornet and from what I have seen off the shelf ammo isn't good for it so I started to look at casting bullets for low pressure loads (22 lr to 22 mag range). I was in a lgs and was looking for a 225-107 mold but came across a lyman 225-358. Decided to pick it up and can't find much info on it, load data or what it was designed for. Can anyone help or am I better off continuing my hunt for the 225-107 or just getting a 225-438?

My old Lyman book shows a picture of that, looks like about a 50 to 55 grain plain-base boolit. It uses the same top punch as the 225415 (an old stand-by) and should be a dandy for light loads suitable for a plain-base. My hornet loads go over 2000 fps and I only have gas-check designs so can't give any real good advice on that one you have there. I'd keep looking for a gas-check design personally.
