Had a great shooting session today right up until I started with the 1895/405. Long story short it beats the middle knuckle on my right middle finger to death, but other than that I like shooting it. Any insights on gloves for shooting that might help with this? Thought about just wrapping it up with something.
Leather wraps are common for this purpose. Try the Cowboy and Indian Store or other CASS oriented vendors.

X2 with prs. My wife and young sons had problems with the same while shooting 405 and 35 WCF in my 1895's and 45-90 and 50-110 in my 1886's. A pair of CASS shooting gloves from Midway fixed the problem.

I’m glad they helped you out. Pretty much gotten to where I don’t shoot without them. Once you get used to them you don’t really notice much.

I wrapped my lever on my 1886 but found that it wasnt enough room for winter and gloves for cold weather. So I made myself a large loop. I find I did a good job for what it is :Bright idea:

Here's my wrap. Made from a leather bootlace.273882
If you need another pair and there's a Harbor Freight near you, try their Hardee Mechanics gloves. They're 4.99 a pair, nice, snug comfortable. Best of all they're cheap. :)

Ditto on the HF Hardy mechanic gloves. I use them around ranch for a multitude of projects.

Pending on the cause of the problem, my solution is different. If the issue is really a sharp edge, I remove it with fine sandpaper.

The 405 just beats the knuckle on my middle finger. Years ago when I shot silhouette I use golf gloves for the Model 29. At 65 I don't have the tolerance for beatings like I did in my 20s.

Shot 36 cartridges out of the 405 today, with the glove on it was an exhilarating experience rather than a painful one.
