Got this ammo in an estate sale and thought perhaps some of our vets might be able to identify it, I sure can't.

Well, it did take a little longer than 5 minutes but I just knew it would be figured out quickly. Thanks guys, now I know the rest of the story.

So, would this fit a Mauser model 98 perhaps? I say this due to getting a butchered Model 98 in the same sale.

Thanks, I ordered some Cerrosafe earlier to check both Mausers actions. I'm hoping the Argentine Mauser is 7.65x53.

I hope its better then the case of Egyptian 9mm I got back in the early 90's.
I moved that case around for over 20yrs,,, before I finally broke down and just pulled all the 124gr bullets.
Though I guess at like $.03 rd it actually turned out a pretty good deal when compaired to jacketed bullet prices...

I doubt my ammo is any better, I could twist the bullets seated in the cases with my fingers.

A friend of mine thought pretty highly of the Egyptian 9mm ammo. Be warned the 9mm was corrosive and the 8mm almost certainly is as well.

According to "The Cartridge Guide" the Arabic marking at the top means: 'Misr = Egypt. Mark used 1952-1958 o^ Egyptian Military.

Any photos of the Mauser?

You mean his actually went bang ?
Mine was mostly duds,, what did fire was very erratic, with some feeling like squibs.
I got really tired of making sure the squib ones werent left in the barrel....

The Egyptian stuff was always a bit hot, the primers are the corrosive part. The key is being able to figure out if it’s the rifle ammo or the MG ammo. The MG will crack stocks, etc,,,,,,

Stay away from the Somalian stuff it’s garbage. The good stuff is the Yugoslavian ammo, it was manu’ed for the commercial market when then didn’t even have 8mm in military inventory.

Never seen a '91 Argie that was chambered for anything else .

Since it's been modified (barrel cut down, stock cut down), even with matching numbers, I still want to do a chamber cast. I'd like to see what mold may work best as I'd like to keep this one to play with.

I saw a 91 Argy way back when that was rechambered and stamped for 308 Win. I don't think I would be comfortable shooting full-house 308 in that gun.
