Bought something off fleabay and it was shipped on 20NOV20. Tracking showed it going from Littleton,CO to Denver, CO on 21NOV20 and expected delivery to be 23NOV20. Got a tracking update on 24NOV20 advising package delivery would be delayed but that it (the package) was on its way. Since then no updates and tracking just shows it on its way to the next center. Can anything be done besides hurry up and wait?

Got to give them 30 days to deliver your package before they will take action. Been there, done that...

The USPS 'tracking' system is worthless. The only update they sometimes send arrives a day or two after the package and it too says "on its way"

Sadly, it's all true. I've had packages that took well over 20 days to reach me from the time that they were put into the system. I've had packages delivered that the numbers were never put into the system, or sometimes the number appeared just a day before delivery. On the two most aggravated cases I had it checked on by the local Postmaster, once, and the USPS Customer Relations in Wash. D.C., once. It seemed to help.

Speak to your local postmaster if possible. Similar issues and she said they have a few other options that we don't. Their estimated dates are jokes and will only get worse until after the holidays. Good luck.

I have mostly good luck with the updates. I often watch my packages go from not my town to not my state before they finally get to me a week late.

As for the question, "Can anything be done besides hurry up and wait"? the answer is NO.

Bought a mold from a man in Salt Lake. It went through Hawaii on its way to Mississippi.

Send the shipper a message saying it must be lost. It will show up that afternoon. That’s how it works for me.

I have noticed more and more that when I check USPS tracking, some show the progression and others just how "in transit". We sent a bo (ground rate) from where we are south of Tucson to Garnerville, N.Y. I kept checking the tracking and all it would say was "in transit". After some 17 or 18 days, I checked - again "in transit" so I called the local P.O. where we shipped it from, explained why I was calling and I gave him the tracking number. He came back and told e that the box was in a certain P.O. in New Jersey an should be delivered within two days. When I asked him how he could check the tracking and how exactly where it was at - yet i, using the USPS site could joy find "in transit" - he could not give me an answer.

I realize that there are issues with everything that has gone on so it's the new norm to expect delays. On the above box, I was told that packages from the western states were being diverted to the Republik of Kalifornia and then processed and sent out. Priority Mail had "priority", then 1st class and then ground rate. It made perfect sense to me that the western states would be sent to Kalifornia - especially a box bound for New York state. Thank God the the P.O. was not in charge of the draft years ago as they would have sent induction notices out to 90 year olds.

If you can't find anything out when you put the tracking in on the P.O. site - call your local post office, explain and give them the tracking number and see if they can't tell you exactly where your parcel is. They might consider your call an inconvenience but they are the ones who have the responsibility to get it delivered and they ought to be able to tell you where it is at.

I have a favorite PO branch in my city and most of them know me, at least recognize me when I come in. If I have a box that it unusually "tardy" and end up with that terminal "in transit", I print out that information and just visit the PO and ask that they check it's present location. Smile and be nice, and hope for a slow time and few in line. In 2-3 minutes you have your answer and a better idea when it actually will be delivered. Also, I have had a failure of the system to update the "day of delivery" information which I request on line. We are all in this together and most times the counter help do not get the good comments, only the complaints. Good luck and be patient.

That's happend to me twice in the last month. It'll say that it's in transit from one location, but won't move for days. I ordered a handplane off of ebay and it took around 3 weeks to get here.

Not necessarily. I have reported issues before and will usually get a response from my local postmaster within a couple of days. I did this with the aforementioned handplane and they did find it and get it moving again. It got "stuck" in transit a second time, but it did eventually get moving and get here without me having to report it again.

If your local postmaster is good, they'll at least look into the issue and try to get it resolved.

usps definitely has gone way downhill in past year, don't understand it but how can a mold get delivered all the way from miha in Europe in one week and a small priority box from Virginia takes 5+ weeks.

I'm in a battle right now with a guy who was suppose to have shipped me some cast boolits two weeks ago but the USPS tracking continues to state "awaiting item". He says he shipped 'em but even when I went to the PO yesterday to ship something else, they checked on it for me and again, awaiting item, only a pre-shipment label came up.

Last month I ordered a caliber conversion kit from Dillon and it got mixed in with a delivery to a hair salon a few miles away. You can imagine my surprise when I got a tracking email stating "Delivered" and yet no package. I called the PO and they were confused, they didn't know where it went. It took rest of the afternoon for them to sort it out and get it to me.

About once a week I become the mailman and deliver letters and packages to my neighbors that were mis-delivered to me. If its addressed to another town or state I make the PO deliver it.

I recently had one delayed somewhere I contacted USPS, they contacted the local postmaster. Had the package the next day.

I had a package held up in Washington for 10 days. It arrived at the local distribution on 11-28 and got it the next business day.
I have another package that arrived at the same local distribution on 11-25 and as of 12-2 have not received it.

I have it on good authority that USPS uses the Dominion software package for tracking.

I just received via USPS a package in a plastic bag that contained the shredded order. Only a week late. Lucky it was a fairly rugged special tool that the workers apparently didn't want. Interesting that USPS destroys enough packages that they have special printed plastic bags to ship them on.

I have dropped packages off at my local station and they would not show arrival scans for a couple days.
I dropped a $1500 Master Caster Panel off in the inside drop box.
It didn't show ANY scans for 2 weeks then it popped up at the distribution center nearest my customer and was delivered the next day.

Here in my subdivision a bunch (5 or 6) residents complained that last night they had packages that said delivered but were no where to be found. They showed up this morning.
It is crazy.
I dropped off a panel this morning and just placed it on the counter with the other packages as there was a line out the door to wait on someone.
I am wondering when it will be scanned.

I mailed two SFRBs to two different members of CB in late August. Tracking only states that they are still in transit. After a few weeks, I refunded their money. I have filed the online complaint and talked to the postmaster ar the PO I shipped from. NADA. Im sure that the intended recipients will let me know if the AR parts show up, but none of us three count on that happening. This is the only issue I've ever had with the USPS, and every package I've sent or recieved since has been drama free. I may have to just deduct it from the next April 15th check that I send them....

I had a package a while back that I had shipped to a customer. Same issue, I started questioning myself if I had lost it on the way to PO. Nope, just took it an extra week to get to the purchaser.
BTW, it isn't always just USPS, I've found more and more that ups and fedex have issues with updating tracking issues.

Ebay posted warnings about USPS delays. They are even promoting UPS and Fedex with discounts.

I gave up on both USPS and UPS tracking. Only when I figure they should be here will I check it. And even then they are usually wrong. Frank

I’m waiting on my first MOLD! USPS said it had been delivered and even offered a proof statement. Got home nothing. Ring doorbell, no pictures! Logged in that night and now it hasn’t left Missouri! Wow!

USPS is a colossal system and it's easy to forget that your package/letter is only one item out of millions every day.
I have noticed a downturn in the efficiency of USPS and there could be several factors involved. The over-reaction to COVID certainly didn't help matters. Internet sales are up, which means volume of packages are up. And while most operations are automated, there are still humans involved and those humans are forced to cope with masks, distancing and screening and countless new regulations (none of which is helpful in terms of productivity).

I have noticed that when my packages are routed through a particular USPS distribution center - they are always delayed. I don't want to call anyone out but the initials for that city are RICHMOND, VIRGINIA. :o

Have you noticed USPS now charges for advanced tracking?

Internet sales bailed out the post office. Remember when they were going to end Saturday deliveries? Now they deliver on Sundays, Amazon orders anyway.
