Took a doe this weekend, shot her head on through the chest, boolit ended up under the hide on her left thigh. Lee 200 grain RNFP with IMR 3031 at 2100 fps, about 205 grains PC'd and checked, recovered boolit weighed 199 grains and mushroomed to just under .5 inch at the widest point.

That must be a hard bullet, several years back another member here showed the damage from a similar load through the shoulders, it destroyed the whole front area and looked like a grenade went off in it. Well done. Regards Stephen

Nice. What alloy, range? A little surprised it didn't exit.

I recovered the same boolit cast from 49/49/2 COWW, pure, pewter from the dirt after it passed through a spike buck at 25 yards. Hit no bone other than ribs. Push it to 2300 or so with Reloder 7. It was mushroomed quite a bit more and some broken off, weighed 158 gr., but the dirt may have caused some of the expansion/weight loss.

that's a pristine looking mushroom for going through a deer, or almost through rather. also if you could tell us alloy details that would be great. and good job

awesome , never did quite understand why the 358 cal rifles never caught on big time, more evidence they sure do work

Sorry to say I don't remember the exact alloy, but it was lead, wheel weights and pewter mixed to about 11 BHN on the alloy calculator. Range was 75 yards.
