Sharp looking Flattop did you redo the finish on the grip frame? I'm also liking the 8.0 grains of Power Pistol with the Keith in my Specials.

It started life with a plow handle grip frame. I installed the stainless Bisley parts. It turned out well.

Nice

:drinks:

Dumb question.....I think I know the answer

Is that on a smaller sized frame, compared to my 44 mag superblackhawk ?

I have to agree. That is an awsum pistol.
Mine is a 5 1/2" (I wish it was a 4 5/8") and it shoots like a house-afire.
I use the same boolit, but have tried many different powders. I am still trying as I am as curious as they come.
Lately I have been using a fairly stiff load of Herco.
Have fun,
Gene

I had one of them but got rid of it. I liked mine but now I like the Smith M69 a whole lot better. I shoot 44 Special loads out of the M69 on up to 44 Magnum. Hard to beat that with a stick.
Still have two or three SBH 44 Mags.

I said I use the same boolit, I meant as Derek. My Flattop is using the 240gr Keith-type semi-wadcutter sized .430 and powder-coated. (mine are also Ford-blue, lol) My load is 6.1gr of Herco, but I have used up to 7.5gr of Unique.
A lot of shooters use Special cases in Magnum chambers, and the only reason I disagree is that if I were to shoot any amount, there would a ring of lead and carbon formed at the end of the case and the end of the chamber.
I prefer to load magnum cases with the lighter load and mark the cases to keep them separate from the magnum loads. Usually, I load brass cases with the "special" load. Nickel gets magnum stuff.
The Flattop is a lot easier to carry around, and it can be loaded quite close to normal factory magnum loads. That's what Elmer did back in the day.
If you feel you want to use the the heavy, and heavier loads, by all means buy one of the larger guns, and use Specials once
in a while.
I often carry ammo in my belt that is very close to the 1906 load, and put a LOT of holes in tin cans. There are a bunch of the heavier 240gr SWC in my pocket, too. In the cylinder, if I am hunting big game, is the 240gr with either Herco or 2400.
It's reall a fun gun to carry.
have fun,
Gene

I keep looking at my round trigger guard plow handle SBH Magnum and wish it were Bisley or even 44 Special Bisley.

So far wish as I may, it is still a 7 1/2 inch SS SBH.

"A lot of shooters use Special cases in Magnum chambers, and the only reason I disagree is that if I were to shoot any amount, there would a ring of lead and carbon formed at the end of the case and the end of the chamber."

The way around that is to seat the bullet to the same OAL in Magnum cases as a loaded 44 Special with the same bullet and the worry about the carbon ring and lead build up is gone. Use the same loads as you would in 44 Special loads. I use 7.5 Unique and the 250 "Keith" bullet or 8 grains PowerPistol with the same bullet loaded to 1.560" OAL in Magnum cases in 44 magnum revolvers.

I have a 5 1/2 inch barrel flat top I love it I customize the group frame and made my own grips to fit my hand and put on a super Blackhawk hammer now it’s perfect for me and shoots great I will never get rid of that one.

35 Whelen, that looks like a very fun .44 Special. Dang! Now there's another one I need to find some cash for.
