I made a few dozen like this before for a tighter 30/06. Im cheap so i masking taped, shaked, un-masking taped, baked. Worked enough for a hunting season and one took a deer.

Get a nose size die from NOE. Measure your bore to get the correct one. My Savage .308 uses a .302 nose size.

I cast bullets, apply gas check and run through body sizer (.309). Then run through a neck size die (.299). Powder coat. Run through body size die (.309 again). Then nose size again (.302). Yep, lots of steps here. Mine are a tight fit in the bore (the rifling leaves marks on the bullet).

You might need to go .001 smaller than bore if you want a nice slip fit.

+1 on what Charlie said. I follow exactly the same process for my Savage M10LE except that I size the body at .310 and nose at .301...1 1/2 MOA (or better!!) @ 200 yds all day long.

I don't like the mess. If I owned a lube sizer I'd probably shoot lubed bullets. But, I'd still be nose sizing to make sure the bullet fits the bore.

It's only a hundred a week so time is not an issue.

If your spraying some members drop the noses into bullet cases if your shake and bake maybe dusting them off with a model paint bursh before baking.

The way I solved this is to order custom size molds from Accurate which accommodates the added diameter size that PC creates. I know that sizing the nose works but unless much care is taken accuracy will suffer if the projectile is distorted. I’m of the opinion that the less sizing there is to distort the projectile the greater the chance for consistency of the loaded rounds. YMMV

I agree and I did that when I ordered from Accurate, but, I didn't get it small enough :( I ordered a .30 nose, which ended up being just ~.001 too big.

The nose size bushing from NOE was $10 :)

I use an Eagan 1.5* t-die along with a home made 1* t-die. Super fast super easy.
