With my daughter being home for the long weekend, she asked if we could go out hunting one morning. As she did not buy any licenses this year we decided that I would carry the lone firearm and we would spend a couple hours walking the 40 acre tract that I have sole permission to hunt. Saw 2 white tails bounding through the brush as soon as we stepped onto the property, way too far off to even tell if they were does or bucks. Took a slow stroll around the perimeter of the property, about 3/4 of the way around had 2 smaller does come running right up on us, maybe 20 yards away at the most. I saw momma about 40-50 yards off. Raised the rifle, pointed it at the closest of the 2 little ones and said "BANG"!

My daughter looked at me and asked what was that all about? I looked at her and said the freezer is already full of meat, we dont have room for any more,,,,, that is what i call catch and release hunting. She smiled, did a fist bump, and we continued our little stroll.

Anyway, it was a great morning to watch the sunrise and spend time in the woods with my favorite hunting partner.

That sounds like a good day to me. I'm getting to where I'm a lot slower to pull the trigger on them anymore, just nice to be out.

Quality time with your daughter and memories made. Time well spent, Dad.

Some of my best memories were not about the game I took, but who I spent the time hunting with. That's a memory that will last far long than a few pounds of venison.

Exactly....it's not about the destination....it's about the journey.

I have always said that a man will spend his life fishing, but it is not about the fish...

Congtats! I wish my daughter would do that but she went to the dark side and thinks Dad is a lil nuts with his guns.

My Daughter is kind of the same way. She will shoot a little, but not much. She is a good shot too. Never could get her to go hunting with me, not her thing.
