I'm just getting ready to start shooting cast bullets and was wondering if I could use any of the powders I already have.
I have the following;

IMR5010
IMR4350
IMR3031
IMR4831
IMR4895
IMR4198
IMR4227
WC852 (LIKE 4831 OR H414) I have alot of this stuff.
CMR100 (LIKE IMR4895 LESS 10%)
UNIQUE
RL19
RL22
WIN296

I will be loading for the following calibers;
22 (.224)
6.5 (.264)
7.62 (.308)
7.62x54 (.310)
7.92 (8mm) (.323)
Your comments appreciated.
Thanks,
Mike

Greetings The mediun rifle powders will work for around 2000 fps. Unique should get to around 1500 fps.
But you need to be thinking about boolit weights, style and purpose. If you do not have a Lyman Cast loading book I would HIGHLY recommend one. I brought one down here to Peru just to help keep the thinker straight.

Unique works for everything, if high velocities aren't required. You'll find uses for the medium rate powders in most of what you load. I can't vouch for the slow burners, I know some guys use them a lot, but have never tried myself.

from your list there i use
3031,4895,414,the cmr100 sounds like 4064 and should work, unique and rl-19.
and don't count out the 5010.
i have used 4350 but was not happy with the results and lowering the load is pretty sketchy.
