271774. This guy a down a path opening morning at about 130 yards. I shot him a NOE Ranch Dog 310-165hp that I PCed over 37.5 grn of Varget. When I shot him he just looked at me like nothing happened so I hit him again. This time he ran 10’ and fell into the biggest thorn patch on the property of course. When I was dragging him out I noticed both rounds hit.. about 1/2” apart right in the heart. The bullet did a ton of damage... to much for my liking I think I may need to harden it up some... right now it’s 75/25 ww/pb

Nice buck! Might have to slow the bullet down a-little to limit the blood shock meat. Got the job done and thats the main thing.congrats

Congrats!

I agree with 244ack. You need to slow that boolit down! That Booletz meplat doesn't need the speed you are pushing it. Been there done that kind of thing. I have used that design down at 1500 with great success after the same results you got the first time.

OP, Check out the thread, got 2 more for the freezer you don't need light speed with a big Meplat! Expansion only creates a meplat

Great Job! And really nice shooting, you got two rounds dead on target and placed them within 1/2 an inch at 130 yards while in the field, again Great Job!

The meat damage appears to be a balance of alloy hardness and velocity. BUT you currently have the most important factor of all… accuracy - let us know how it goes if you make a change to your load.

I don't think it needed the HP, but 3 good quarters is better than no quarters. Congratulations.

Thanks. I normally shoot management bucks or does since I have to fill my freezer I’m not a horn hunter, but for the past couple of years I’ve been wanting to shoot a big one, so when he came out I couldn’t resist
