I am making some tang sight inserts on my lathe. I have the old man's eye sight problem and can't afford the $75 adjustable eyepiece. The one I am copying has a thread on the shaft that I have determined to be a 12/40 thread. I have not found any luck finding a die with this thread. Asked Brownell's about it but no answer as of yet. Does anyone know a place to get such a critter?

you might try to contact Microfasteners to see if they have something or if they know where you can get one.

The phone number is (800) 892-6917

If you don't get an answer from Brownell's soon, just call them (toll free)and talk to their tech dept. MSC also has tech help, and will even put you on a conference line with them and a manufacturer if they need to.
