I've been playing around trying to powder coat boolits off and on for the past year with not much success, I've been using Harbor freight powder and couldn't make it work. I finally stopped at a powder coating shop in town and the guy gave me a sample of a bag he had laying there open, brought it home and did the shake n bake method with a #5 cottage cheese container and air soft pellets and I noticed right away how nicely the were coated! Baked them at 400 for 20 min on a hardware cloth rack and they turned out perfect! I'm hooked now!!!! Good powder is everything!

Yep. I was discouraged at first when I tried some HF powder a while ago. Then I took 'everyones' advice and bought some Eastwood Ford Light Blue. Success first time out. Still using some of that bag of powder too.

When I started, initially I wanted to go the local supply route, and thanks to these pages, I wound up going with name brands and while I found a few that covered less-than-wonderfully, I'm happy I found three or four I will use a LONG time.

Any of the Eastwood "mirror" colors are shake, bake, and done.
And like the OP found, their Ford Light Blue is in the same category.

The use of Airsoft balls is another not-so-well-hidden secret.
