Who makes a decent .452" RNFP no GC and preferred with TL grooves in the 210-235 grain range that is not $100? I prefer aluminum but brass is OK (although unlikely at my price point). I see some really nice NOE molds (I have a very neato .360" 180 I use for .357) but they are sky high (yes, I know they are nice but...).

Lee TL452-230-TC is fairly close to your specs.

I am not a big fan of the TC nose and it's out of stock.

Thanks

I heard the RCBS 45-230CM is a good choice but it too is out of stock (and is steel). The Accurate 45-230 would work but it costs what a NOE does. Guess I will just have to spend more than I wanted.

Your price range limits you to Lee moulds . Your timing to buy now limits you to what's in stock .
Lee doesn't make a .45 RNFP with TL in the 210 to 235 grain weight ,
Something is going to have to give .

Closest Lee mould is TL452 - 230 - 2R . It has the RN but no FP !
An option would be TL452 - 200 - SWC . It has a FP and a sorta RN ( look at the picture in catalog ) ...but this would require compromise also .

Sorry , Don't know what to tell you .
Maybe keep an eye on E-Bay for a used mould that is in your price range .
But even used moulds are getting pricey ...Good Luck !

I'd skip the TL style. They offer nothing. This should fit the bill, in your price range, and will shoot great with a tumble lube.

A 4 cavity is 78.00 bucks + shipping and tax. Won't do much better than that.

I've got that mold and it casts great! The mold came up to temp easily on the hotplate and cast good boolits from the start. Just haven't had time to load any. Too many irons in the fire.

Hey there GasGuzzler.
The best round nosed flat point I've seen for a .45ACP is a RN .45 hard ball mold with a hollowpointmold.com modification to make the "flat" as big as I wanted it. That way it feeds right like hard ball does and it hits right like a pistol ought to.

This has a hollow point pin but you could have flat just as easy, or interchangeably.
And, make the flat as big as you want it.

I stumbled onto this one in the S&S section a while ago, HM˛ 452-200-RNFP. It has become my new favorite for 45 acp.

And the 2 cavity is only $68.00 but for the extra $10.00 the 4 cavity would be the best buy .
I was not familiar with Arsenal Molds pricing ... will have to check them out .
This one is 230 grain to boot !

I guess I should have stated I refuse to manually lube bullets any longer ... or at least I am not buying any more molds for a bullet that would require it. I'm not set on TL grooves as much as the nose profile, size, and weight. $87 OTD might as well be $100 but the used market hasn't born me a good deal so I might just order this one.

Many of us Tumble Lube boolits with traditional lube grooves.

Most of the TL style molds (from Lee) that I have used, with exception of one, have performed poorly.
I have found tumble lubing boolits with traditional lube grooves to give better performance than Lee's TL boolits.

Now I also have some RanchDog molds with TL grooves that work great. While they were made by Lee, they were a custom Order with Mike's (of RanchDog Outdoors) own design, the TL grooves are a bit larger and the TL area is recessed. This allows for better metal displacement while the boolit goes through the Barrel.
That's my 2˘

Arsenal Molds has too many issues with their website to trust them. They force you to check the "I have read terms and conditions" box (common) but if you want to read the T&C you get a blank page. They have a PayPal option that signs you in then will not work. If you pay with a card you get a "quantity must be more than zero" message. So it will have to be a used mold it seems.
