I've had this for some time, and it's been on my desk holding pens for it's tenure here, but I'm certain that wasn't it's original purpose. I'm not posting this as a teaser where I actually know what it is, I genuinely have no idea. It was in a box of random junk at a flea market, and the seller didn't know anything more about it, he wasn't sure where he got it, probably an estate sale. The box contained nothing else that was easily identifiable as related.

Height is about 1.6" diameter about 2.4" center hole is 1.050" and the 9 holes around the perimeter are .480". The material is bronze or brass.

Reminds me of a LeMatt cylinder but wouldn't be brass.

Part of a hydraulic pump. Similar to what's in a zero turn trans axle.

I think Finster101 has it.

I know I have seen parts like that before, I just can't remember exactly what they are for. A part of a hydraulic system makes sense to me, we could have had a very similar spare part on one of my ships.

Have you tried a google image search?

I've tried to look it up a little bit, but haven't had any luck. It's unmarked, and appears unused. Heck, it might not even be finished.

Some kind of hydraulic something or other I could see. I genuinely don't think it's firearms related, even though it does bear a strong resemblance to a revolver cylinder. I bought it to use as a pen holder, and that's what it will remain, I was just kind of curious what it was made for. You guys have been pretty good at this kind of thing.

That piece is One of about 50 that Fit on a Paper making machine called a Fourdrinier. In the holes fit finger shape tool bids That sort of Fluff up the Dried paper pulp prior to going into the machine that manufacture Paper. The bales of Pulp must be separated so a fine layer of pulp is mixed with water , then in turn to make various kinds of paper.

Yes,the hydraulics are right ....its the rotor of an axial piston pump or motor, the row of slots on the circular end are the valve plate......must be relatively low pressure ,as the industrial type are hardened steel to hold pressures of 6000 psi +.
