I got a nice buck tonight. My son, Ryan gets credit for an "assist" here. That's because he had the first crack and missed it. Ryan was using my scoped 870 and I carried my inline muzzleloader. I heard Ryan shoot about an hour before dark. We had set up about 150 to 200 yards apart, so I got ready in case he sent something my way. I was situated halfway down a big brushy draw facing up hill. I immediately heard something coming from my left about 70 yards up the draw. Through periodic holes in the brush I could see this was a nice buck. It crossed the draw and slowed to a walk and cautiously continued to move forward. I follow him through my scope and when I got a narrow window, I touched off a shot. I watched the buck stumble out of the big cloud of smoke and fell down after about 20 yards. The saboted 429244 worked well again (AC WW). A pass through shot that broke the opposite leg upon exiting.
Ryan had first seen the buck at about 80 yards and moving away. He took a long shot at 100+ and missed. The deer turned and ran by him at about 20 yards, but he couldn't get a 2nd shot. After hearing me shoot, he called me on my cell phone and asked if I got it (isn't technology great?). After he walked over to meet me and view "our" buck", I commented that this was a funny way to do a deer drive.
