Building a little 223 for the kids. Howa mini spotter action.

Would like to shoot cast and burn up some old bluedot....

Any recommendations on the pill and load?

Thanks

Assuming by "pill" you mean bullet or Boolit?

There was a lot of use of Blue Dot in the 223 cartridge with jacketed bullets used on another forum.....until several unexplained pressure excursions occurred. I use a lot of Blue Dot in revolver loads with cast and jacketed bullets but have not ventured into using it in rifle cartridges of the bottle neck variety. Just too many other reliable powders available that are proven performers.

I use Blue Dot for .223 loads with 40-50 gr. jacketed bullets and have had very good luck in two bolt action rifles. I stay on the low end of loads listed on another forum. I agree with Larry that for loads well over 3000 FPS, there are better and safer alternatives.
