I'm looking for a source for oversize .44 cast bullets for a Rossi R92. It slugs .432-.433" so I'm thinking .434 or .435" bullets. I tried Bear Creek but they can't ship until after January. Any suggestions ? Thanks

An FYI, I have a SS Rossi which slugs large like yours. Before I went out buying bullets, I bumped up a few rounds up and then sized in a Lee die I had reamed out (don't recall my specific size without checking my records). I loaded a couple dummy rounds and found the rounds would NOT pass through/between load gate guides. Just something to check out in advance.

I'm currently running .431" 240gr JSP from Everglades Ammo.

I have a Rossi with a .434 bore, my old 429244 drops at .433 so I coated some with spray epoxy and they came out .4355 and they would chamber and shot well. See $10 coating post in the coated bullet section of this forum. Can my Lyman sizer be opened up with a lathe or do I need to lap it.

Buffalo Arms is one source for custom sizing dies. I have both .433" and .434" from them.

Look up the SAAMI specs for a 44 Mag rifle. They are supposed to have these oversize bores in way too slow twist barrels. I’m lucky in that my Rossi 92 Trapper shoots well, not as good as its twin in 357 but acceptable. My Browning 92 is terrible, I’ll never sell it but I may have it rebarreled with 44 Mag handgun specs.

I opened up a Lee die by .001 with sandpaper wrapped around a dowel rod. Tape a strip to it and wrap a couple times around the dowel so it still slides in easy. Run it in and out with a drill letting the flap of sandpaper do it’s thing. Do it again with wet dry then polish it. I got lucky and nailed it first time. I don’t remember what grit I started with.
