Any recommendations on a cast boolit mold? Of all the molds I have not a one in those calibers. I plan on powder coating and deer hunting with them. The swede is a Mod 70 FWT and the 7x57 is a Ruger #1.

Can't help with your mold problem---but those are certainly a pair of high class, very nice rifles! :D

For general shooting in the 7x57, I shoot a lot of the "Soup Can" bullet, you can buy a six cavity mold from Midsouth. I water quenched them, sized to .287 and shoot in front of 10 grains of 700X all Summer off my front porch at 100 yards.

For deer hunting so far, I use the 287308 which I got hollow pointed, cast of 50/50 WW to pure plus 2% tin. Picture of one, loaded and after going almost lengthwise through a doe.

I have a NOE 140 Creedmoor mold that works great in my M38 Swedish Mauser.
I usually shoot these at plate set at 200 yards.
If I have good light conditions I can smack the 6” disc.
My 12 year old grandson has maxed out the Soderin receiver sight at 500 yard plates from the prone position using cross sticks.

I have been loading 145gn RCBS silly-wet boolit and 29gn of 3031 with good accuracy in my 7.57 Mouser

This is a very good one, accuracy wise and I have the mold, but I got that Soup Can mold because of the six cavity feature and it seems just about as good. Did I mention I shot my 7x57 quite a bit?

Be aware that American made Swedes have been religiously made with .264 groove dia. barrels, so look for a .264 or .265 mold.
European and Japanese 6.5 caliber guns have larger bore diameters, My custom Type-38 (with original barrel) has a Groove dia of .2685 The 1896 Swede that I use to have, had a .267 groove dia barrel.
Good Luck.

Thanx JonB. I've been looking at the different mold makers websites. I'm gonna look for a .265 mold about 150 grain and a .285/6 about 160 grain. I don't see many in stock.

Has anyone used the 7mm 135 grain "Soup Can" hunting deer sized game.
Junior 1942 had plans for it out of the TCU and did not live to get it field tested.

I think it would work, personally, I'd want the heaviest bullet I could in a 7mm, pretty small for cast.

I gave up PCing my 6.5 GC boolits, because it was too frustrating to to keep them standing up in the oven. I went to Lee Alox tumble lube for them. Otherwise, I use PC a lot for other calibers. If your boolit is a little shy in diameter, you can always try to beguiling the mould and sizing afterwards. That can add some diameter before buying a new mould.
One should always slug the barrel before buying a mould!
