Was surfing this morning and found a CVA Scout V2 TD with the stainless finish in 6.5 Creedmoor for $319 plus $22 for shipping. Thought since I already have dies, brass, and bullets why not give it a try so ordered it. Most likely I’ll add either a 2x7 or 3x9 scope and call it a day.
Not much can go wrong at this price. With luck it will be here in about a week. Stock is supposed to be ambitious so hope it fits my left handed shooting.

Cva's are good rifles. Should work fine for you as long as you don't expect 1/2 inch groups at 100 yards. Nothing wrong with the gun just not a tack driver. 1 and 1/2 to 2 inches all day forever. For the money it will get the job done.

I have a older CVA Scout / Hunter in 243 Win. I am also left handed and it does fit me very nice and is accurate.
Mine is a plain Jane matte finished with a fluted barrel and will heat up quick after 3 shots but for a hunting rifle it’s great.

Don’t think I shot a deer beyond 50 yards in the last 5 years so 1.5 MOA is more than adequate.

My V2 .300 BLK will shoot 3 shot 1/2" groups at 100yds with factory ammo. I mostly shoot subsonic reloads and it will stack them at 50yds all day long.

Having CVA market or build decent quality centerfire guns still astounds me, I remember them from the 1970's as one of the lower quality importers of BP muzzle loading kit guns.

Don't get me wrong, that .45 cal CVA Kentucky pistol taught me a lot about using a handgun for small game.

These are built by Bergara for CVA and imported. The value per dollar on them is amazing. One only needs to pick one up and open and close the action to realize how well built they are.

I have a CVA wolf inline. I like it very much. Thus the reason im leaning towards a centerfire rifle from them.

I am amazed they still haven't offered a chambering for .357 magnum . Not that I need one but I think I would buy one .

Yes ! That’s what I have been saying for years, handi rifles in 357 are like gold and were probably one of their top sellers. Many possibilities of rechambers on a 357 make it a gun that would really sell well.
They did chamber their single shot pistol in 357 but not the rifle ?

My brother has the CVA in 44 mag, and yes the barrels are made by Begara and it’s a steal of value . We worked up a load when he picked it up last year on Nov 1st, nov 15th he shot a very large southeastern MI corn fed whitetail doe- well over 220 double lumber her at 30 yards she ran about 40 feet and fell over dead can’t ask for better

You're safe. CVA doesn't have it in a 30-30. 350Legend but no 30-30, go figure.

Hunter, in 45-70 with the optima thumbhole for me. I have had it for 2 Iowa straight wall seasons and has been up to the challenge of filling my tags both years.

Picked up the rifle a few days ago. Fit and finish seems very good, trigger is outstanding. No creep that I can detect. Seems a little heavy but I won’t be hiking much with it so the weight will help it settle down on the bags/rest better when shooting on my range.

Hammer extension. I am a lefty so need to move it to the other side. Does it simply unscrew counter clockwise?

Any idea if they'll offer additional barrels like H&R did?

Congrats. I think you're gonna be happy with this rifle. These are a solid chunk of steel for sure. I was surprised at the weight of my little 16" barrel .300BLK. My trigger is awesome as well. Got to be <3lbs and crisp. I think the extension does just unscrew.

Gotta get some pics up though.

@lar45 CVA doesn't do any interchangeable barrels but the rifles are cheap enough to just buy several.

I had and just sold a CVA Scout V2 in .45-70 and have a CVA Hunter in .45-70 on order.

The Scout V2 model has a 23" bbl, not their advertised 25" - it is 25", but only when the muzzle brake is screwed on, whereas the Hunter's bbl is a full 25".

Has anyone shot both the scout and hunter side by side? And could tell if their was a difference in the guns. I was just wondering if it would be worth getting one over the other.
Naturally how the action is operated is obviouce. Which i find the action release in the rear of the trigger better looking.

With my Scout V2, the trigger guard action lever was HARD to operate.

With my Scout V2, the trigger guard action lever was HARD to operate.

I would have taken that over mine, which sometimes opened upon recoil... and other times shot 18MOA off course. But polishing the action lugs had fixed it, now it shoots 1MOA with iron sights, if I do my part.

Good luck OP!

If ever you wanted to play with a new cartridge this is as good as it gets for a good build on a single shot rifle for cheap. I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the lock up , great trigger , very packable gun in meaningful cartridges. I found a used 300 BO in Camo for $250.00 I like this platform a TD Camo in 6.5 C is on the list .
I could never warm up to the Handi Rifles just don’t like them, lock up was always cheesy to me.

Yeah I'd be all over that. They do have it in calibers we don't see much of like .222, 6.5x57R, and 8x57JRS. As well as 45-70 which I figured would be your huckleberry.

Steve, the 45-70 is fun- but the 8x57mm cast a spell on me long ago and is great with cast also. I'd have to go there if pigs start flying and those get imported. Thanks for sharing that- I didnt know they existed.

I picked up the CVA Hunter in 35 Remington on a close out at KY Guns. I can't remember exactly, but it was surely under $200... and it IS a tack driver with the 200 gr FTX ammo from Hornady.

I looked up my old posts about this rifle, and it looks like I paid $165 on a close out sale for it. The best centerfire rifle I've ever had for under $200.

Bergara builds the CVAs.

The Traditions had a Lothar Walther barrel. Not sure who builds the actions but they aren't the same gun.

I picked up a CVA Hunter in 44 mag this summer and promptly reamed it to 445 super mag. Took a doe on opening day with it. I liked the gun before rechambering it. I really like it now. I don’t have a clue how it compares to other calibers like 444 or 45/70 but this thing is a beast.

Found a 2.5x8 Zeiss Conquest in my safe. Mounted it on the rifle, loaded up a box of ammo and now just need to sight it in and use for the remaining of our deer season.
Rifle weighed 7 pounds 4 ounces before mounting the scope.

Haven't shot it yet, weather issues. Created loads using AA5744 and Acme 405 grain hi-tecs. Trigger feels quite good 'n' crisp.

Here's my V2 .300BLK shooting subsonics thru my YHM Sidewinder 9mm can with adapter. It's really hard to convey how suppressed sounds on video. It sounds like an air rifle in person. Listen to how loud my steps are compared to the shot.

It's just the bare stock.
I remember the factory bolt being too long and i added a stack of washers to make up the difference. I think you have to take your pistol grip cap off and switch it over as well.

Think I got the scope issue settled for the CVA BO. Scope was fine on 30/30, bushy 3x9, not the best. Really had to play with the burris mounts to get here, hopefully it was just my shooting. Ammo was loaded for my pistol - more work to do. Upper by 9&10 is 110 HJ, rest are mixed 145 & 170gr PB 15 & 1800 fps. Shot with caldwell front & rabbit ear rear bag this time.

Does anyone have a CVA take down case I could buy? Have Scout V2 44. Called CVA last year and asked to talk to the Product manager stated he didn’t take calls. Was asking for take down case they no longer make. I would like to have one to make design improvements on and sell them. As you know the Scout has the forearm lever to “ take” down like the old model short.
