I seen a potter today on Evilbay.I was wondering how good of a furnace they are?
Also what is the electric plugin on top of these furnaces for?
I got a small Potter on eBay, and it's just the Cutest Little Thing (As the Actress said to the Bishop)! Only holds about 4 lbs of alloy, and has no control, so I plug it into my dimmer-controlled socket above my bench. Perfect for running off 50-100 boolits for testing or whatever. I just Love it! It's the Cutest Little Thing!
No electrical plugin on this one.
I've had one since the 70's. It is small and won't keep up with a 4 hole mold and no thermostat. Otherwise works great.

The "cute little one" I have has a "heat control". The plug is "hot" on two of the three holes and there are 3 prongs where the element(s) attach.
The plug has one side labeled "HIGH", the other "LOW" depending on which or maybe both elements get juice.
I can't tell the difference in the two.
I only use mine for "pure" lead for muzzleloaders or measuring slugs.
I also have a Potter ingot mould that makes the little half pound ingots. Ther was one of those on evilbay a few weeks back.
