Just got back from a week on the river swamp a couple of hours south. I can't get after 'em like I used to but still managed 14 out of 15 pigs. All were shot with Express 870 with Hastings rifled barrel and Nikon slughunter scope, 525 Lymnans with hot glue in base over 36 gr Longshot and Federal hulls. Longest shot about 100 yds across a slough, most about 40-50 yds. Biggest about 200 lbs.

Read in another thread avout no slugs available.... If you're not casting and loading these lyman slugs, for a rifled barrel at least, you're missing out on terrific knockdown power and good accuracy. I shot all these off hand. You'll have to enlarge the photo across the slough to see his spine showing after I shot him facing away about 100 yds. He left his buddy thrashing in the water. The light colored one trotted out into a field when I jumped him out of a wallow and looks almost white. A good frost the first couple of mornings with a warming trend. 10 yrs ago I would have called this 2 1/2 days of stalking the swamp, not a week! Just happy to still go and hunt free on a beautiful piece of South Carolina low country. This made 25 yrs here, all but the last 3 with a recurve bow.
