I am purchasing a handi barrel in .223 to have bored out and a .312 barrel liner installed and chambered for 327 Federal.
I have a local gunsmith, but this is beyond his ability. Looking for suggestions.
I know several of you have had 327's created in various configurations, and barrel stubbing is also a viable option, but would prefer a barrel liner. I bought the .223 because the extractor should work without modification.
So, bore out barrel, install liner, chamber for 327, crown muzzle and cut extractor groove for existing extractor, correct?
Am I missing anything?
ALL advice is welcome.
This will be my first attempt at this type of venture, so if I am overlooking something I won't exactly be surprised.
Thanks in advance!

Probably cheaper to just get a new barrel.

Well hello young man! Been awhile. I looked into getting a new barrel, and had no luck finding any available for my handi rifle.
I would have to first buy another gun to have another option.

If you could find a 22 lr or mag or 22 hornet barrel, you could get that rebored/chambered to 327. As you say, stub the barrel or barrel liner should work.

Track of the wolf has liners for 30 luger that should work for what you want. .311/.303" You could use another barrel, 243, 22-250, ect since the liners are 1/2" and just get a 223 extractor.

Hard part is over(for me anyway).
Already committed to this project. Basically got tired of waiting to pick a particular method and ordered a 223 handi barrel.
I have been pondering this project for months now.
Only thing I need now is a competent gunsmith to make it happen....lol
Piece of cake, right?

Google JES barrel boring and if Jesse can bore your 223 barrel to 327. Only problem i could would be cleaning up the 223 chamber. I had JES bore a 336 30-30 barrel to 410 and he did a great job. IIRC he offers 3, 4 and 5 groove rifling. My 410 is 5 groove and cost me $275 with shipping.

Barrels John Taylor did for me were not stub jobs, but complete barrel fabrication. You don't need a donor barrel to cobble, just one to measure for dimensions to fit your action, which will then be left intact in its original configuration. He is moving his shop to Idaho and won't be taking more work until he gets settled.
