Well not me
But I just got back in from a quick White Tail Deer hunt
I couldn't sleep
So I headed out to the woods behind my house on my Dad's land
I had been seeing a good number of deer every morning
Either in the cut corn field or in the CPR area between dad's woods and the cut corn
I have 2 ground blinds in the CPR area and another in the woods
The wind was right to hunt the back blind
Well this morning was about 40 degrees with a 15 MPH wind
I got to the blind early , I hoped to let the deer I bumped walking in settle down before daybreak
It was not 15 min after I got into the blind before I heard deer moving in the CPR ground
So I cocked the crossbow and waited
As it got light enough to see , I started to see a couple of does in the cut corn feeding
I had shot several Crop Damage deer a while ago
So I was looking to get a buck
About 7:20 I saw a nice 8 point buck walking just inside the CPR ground
It was looking for a doe to mate with
As it got closer to me , it was on the wrong side of some brush for me to be able to shoot it
So I used a doe bleat call
That worked to well
As it headed right at me
I was lucky , at about 20 yards the buck stopped and looked back at some does in the cut corn
I made a good shot with my Horton Hunter crossbow
It only went 30 or so yards before going down
Not a huge rack , but a decent 21" spread
I called my dad and he brought the truck out to pick it up
Nice to be able to drive right up to the buck and load it up
Great thing about hunting on my land or dad's land
I don't have to buy deer tags
I can still harvest 3 more antlerless deer
I have it in the shed right now
I wanted to put a tarp down first
Then I will be able to gut and skin it without leaving a mess in the shed
