Playing with cast rifle bullets in the 06. Used 13 gr Unique with the Lee bullet and was all over the page ...roughly 18" group. No gas check, mediocre cast quality. 1450 fps, cleaning before next test showed some leading.
Will redo with gc and with better bullets

Now something new, same bullets, 7 gr bullseye, 1150 fps, got a nice 3" group at 100 yards. Here's the article I read on it

Yes! I used the same source to figure out cast loads for my M1 Garand in 30-06. Looks like you are getting some good results.

With 13 grs of unique I'm sure the gas checks will make a big difference

Yes, the GCs will make all the difference with that Unique load. Will improve the Bullseye load also.

I've had good luck in my Rem. 700 .06 with 'the load' of 13 gr. of Red Dot under a 190 with a gas check.

Gas checks are cheap enough for me not to want to skimp on them. I like 18-20 grains of 2400 powder with a 165-200 grain cast boolit in the 30-06. Start at 16 grains and work up... you will find a sweet spot and you won't be disappointed!

What velocity do these 18-20 grs. range in?
