I decided to pick up the Uberti 1885 Low Wall in .38-40, it's been shot but not much, found a box if Winchester ammo at the gun shop the other day (he had a whole bunch of them!) and I ordered dies and bullets today for it. Can't wait to try it out, maybe eventually get a short range Soule sight for it.

I don't mean to hijack your post but I think I have your rifles great grand father. Original lowall in 38/40. My great grandfather purchased this rifle in Denver Colorado in 1890s . It is a ball to shoot. I only use cast bullets in it. I hope you get as much enjoyment out of yours as I do this one. Starline has brass for it.

Me too, already have an original Win 92 in that caliber. Definitely a fun round to shoot.

Great looking gun, it needs a Marbles tang sight on it. Hdskip, that gun of yours is a fine looking old rifle also, bet it could tell some tales.

Very cool! May I ask how much it weighs?

This version isn't bad, it says 9 pounds, but it that's the case, it's very well balanced, doesn't feel overly heavy.

I have two LW, 30" 32-20 and 25-20wcf, 26" shilen bbl and a 30" 38-55 HW and the LW's are such neat, trim, handy & a joy to carry & shoot.
You're gonna like it.
