Well, I decided to get the Winchester 1894 rifle I was looking at in .32-40 recently. It was made in 1909 and has a good bore, there are a couple of dings here and there, but can't wait to get it to the range. Already got brass, bullets and dies, loaded up a few rounds to test out, hoping to get to the range this week.

You gotta love old Winchesters! My 2 are 1906 and 1927 and I believe they stopped chambering in 1928. Lots of different boolits to choose from, mine love the Saeco 8mm x 190gn sized to 0.323".

I have a Cody letter on my 94 carbine in .32-40. It dates to 20 June 1930. It has a nickle steel barrel too.

That is a very cool rifle.

A lot of character in that piece.

I dearly love a levergun with character.

Mine is from 1897. I couldn’t find any 32-40 brass so I formed some 30-30 brass into a close facsimile. Turns out it won’t feed, the sharp edge of the case mouth catches on the chamber. I think there’s some brass on here for sale, need to grab it. I stopped into the local shop known for a big ammo selection today, looking for 380 for my wife. They didn’t have any, but they did have one box of HSM 32-40.

I was only able to afford mine because of this crude weld job on the tang. Bobby Tyler’s head gunsmith has it now, and is going to try to clean up that mess.

Cool old gun, hopefully those notches are for game, not people. lol

Although it looks like the cartridge has a slight taper, they would probably work in a straight cartridge state.

Good luck with it!

Nice ! I like that it has a Special Order half/button magazine - which makes it much handier than a full=length magazine tube.
