Here are some pictures of cases I shot over a year ago. I just figured out how to post them with my iPad. As you can see there’s something wrong. All the wrinkles. Any ideas to the cause. Not too hot of a load I’m sure. I think I may have loaded them with BP. It’s been so long, that I don’t remember for sure. I noticed maybe three like this, not all. I think the photos are from the one with the most pronounced deformities. Any ideas what caused it? The only thing I can think is the case OAL was too long.

They look like that after firing?
That is a head scratcher.

If the OAL was too long, with that much crushing going on, I'd think you wouldn't have been able to chamber them.

I've fired quite a few BP loads with a 405 hard cast & gas check in mine, and the cases looked normal afterwards.
They stunk from the sulfur, like I'd had too much beer & hard boiled eggs, but they looked fine.

Lube grooves inside case mouth with a crimp that was a little too heavy?

How hard was it to extract that case?

That is a good example of rung chamber, several rings.
This happens putting a wad over the powder with a gap between the bullet base.
This will happen with black powder or smokeless.
