I picked up a Convection oven at a local thrift store last weekend and posted that it went way higher then the temp I set it to. The general consensus was that it would level out after 15 or so minutes. Well its a good thing I didnt put my bullets in today with it set to 400.... It went up to 550 and after 30 minutes or so it came down to around 510.

I played with the oven over 3 hours watching what the temp did at any set temperature.. It was consistent at about 110 degrees hotter then the dial temp. I had to set it to 300 to get it just over 400 degrees, I could hear the heater kick on and the temp would rise 40 degrees and after a few minutes it would settle back to 405ish.

I guess this is why it was at a thrift store.... The person probably kept burning dinner with it

At least now I can use the oven, I just have to set it to 300* to get 405*

Another thing today, I was going to finally use my trays that I riveted the cases to to spray PC on some 308-165gr bullets but found that none of the trays will fit into either of my ovens [smilie=b:

so I tumbled 750 308 bullets today with some Silver that I got from Conditor22 and put them on a mesh screen and then into the oven.

About 750 PC'd bullets for the 300 Savage

They look more gray to me but still good enough.

Now I am melting the lube off my old bullets so I can PC them.
Here are some 44 Mag 265gr ready for the toaster oven

And then out of the oven, ready for acetone and then PC

This will save me a ton of time, I was going to re-cast all my 45/70 and 44 Mag bullets...

Recast? Why? Were they previously lubed? If so boiling them in water is a far easier task than casting all over.
