Looking for J Word loads that are subsonic, that will shoot well and function in a AR .223/5.56 with a 1-8 twist? All help appreciated.

I doubt you will find a load that works. That is why the 300 BLK was developed.

That is what I thought.

I use a 22lr conversion kit in an AR for subsonic use.

You could always change springs.

You have just stumbled across the perfect reason why you 'need' a new .22LR semi-auto.

Just a question to dispel my ignorance; can one use a very slow powder to maintain enough pressure, long enough at the gas port? Perhaps duplexed to get it to burn? Not suggesting this as a means to make it work, just wanting to know if the principle could work.

It'd be a fun project to work on, but I think the trick would be in having a real heavy bullet to build and hold enough
pressure long enough to make the action work, even with greatly reduced power springs and possibly a lightened up bolt.
