I cast up a pile of these bullets today out of pure soft lead. Dip lubed in Gatofeo #1, and run through a Lee .501" push through sizer. Shot out of my Renegade with the Green Mountain bullet barrel on it, I was seeing some mighty tight groups at 100 yards with them loaded over 100 grains of Goex 2F or my own homemade powder. Funny how a 1/2 inch center to center group is one hole if you're shooting a 50 caliber! Anyhow, if you want a good hunting bullet for your 50 these RCBS bullets seem to do the trick.

Nobade.
What is the twist on your barrel and the length of your barrel?

Pretty sure it's 1:28. 20" long, it's the Green Mountain LRH carbine barrel.

Nobade i have seen this bullet be used by idaho ron paper patched i believe...i could be mistaken. Did you paper patch or use a wad etc? Unsized do you know what it comes out too? Think it would be able to work in a .54 with thick paper patching?

I use the Lee 500 S&W bullet. It is listed as a 440 gr. I use a RCBS 11mm bullet in my 45.

I just shot them naked and lubricated. No paper patching or wads. I am trying to get this rifle up and going for a friend to use elk hunting and I wanted to make things as simple as possible. I was actually surprised at how well it worked. I wouldn't try to patch it up to 54, that would be way too thick.

Haven't tried the RCBS yet but wanted to. Just haven't seen one at the fiscal threshold I allow (cheap) [smilie=l:.
This diminutive Renegade I named "Ren".

Long time ago tried the Lyman #445599 mold remachined to be smooth sided and patched to .499 diameter.
