Tried Hi-Tek for the first time today

I've done some powder coating, but made up some gun metal solution today and coated about 400 bullets.

I applied 3 coatings, and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. Will definitely be doing more of this.

For some reason I did not have much success with hi tek coating I had peeling and several failed batches with the smash test. The issues could have been improper cure time, poor oven temp (bought one from the good will) or I failed to allow the boolits to dry before baking. I’ve had good results with shake and baking. Guess that’s the trial and error if reloading, casting and coating. Those boolits look really good! Interested in a follow up range session on how they shot and if you had any leading/residue issues. I might have to try hi tek again.

What kind of mold are you using?

I'm using a MP .356 130 grain.

How do you like that mold? I’ve been eyeballing it for the longest now. Is this the profile that requires you seat the boolit deep in order for the round to chamber?

I have to load them at 1.09 to fit my CZ's. There seems to be a lot of lead bullet profiles that require you to seat deeper then a standard FMJ.

I will say that my bullets weren't quite as smooth as some commercial bullets like Acme or Bayou. I'm thinking I may not have allowed them to dry thoroughly on one of my coatings.

The secret to smooth and shiny is to dump when still slightly wet.

To help with sizing, get some of the HITEK sizing lube it makes them slide through the sizer die real easy and use far less effort.
