Help Me Choose

Getting back into bullet casting after a 20+ year hiatus. When organizing my stuff, I found that I don’t have a bullet mold for a 9mm. Will likely be going with a 6-cavity Lee, with a few prerequisites. Obviously feeding reliability is the premiere requirement, but would like as much bullet frontal area (metplat) as possible. Any suggestions, and Thanks in advance! memtb

The 120 gr TC design (such as the Lee 6 cavity) is probably the best ALL-AROUND bullet for 9mm.
That profile feeds and functions in the greatest number of 9mm pistols and is an excellent bullet in terms of performance.

I don't know if you could do any better than that type.

I agree with Petrol&Powder. The 6 cavity Lee 120TC is a favorite of mine for the 9mm. I cast about 20lbs of them yesterday. My mould and alloy drops at just short of 125gr. Gp

My 9mm molds are the Lee RN designs. They work well. But I do hear great things about their TC design.

I also concur on the 120 grain TC bullet. They feed well, shoot well, and perform well. The molds work well too. However, I recommend a sprue plate from Red River Rick.

Thanks guys! That one and the multi-groove 124 grain (TL 356-124 TC) were the two I was considering. I do like the somewhat wider point on the bullet y’all recommended! Thanks! memtb

I powder all my bullets and my favorite mold is an H&G #7. But many bullet choices will group under 1-1/2" at 25 yards out of a Ransom rest and these are some. The NOE #358-128, which is a 9mm version of the classic H&G #68; I have two 4 cavity and 8 bullets out of two molds drop within 2 tenths of each other. For a round nose the Saeco #115 is a long time winner. For a light & a very fast round nose the H&G S-55 likes to run at maximum velocity for excellent accuracy.

Sorry, I like a number of Lee Products, but bullet molds are not one of them, especially if you want consistency in multi cavities.

Yes, I am still making Steel replacement Sprue Plates for the LEE 6 cavity moulds. They are $15.00 Cdn each.

I think you misread the post. It is not I who makes sprue plates, it is Red River Rick. He is a member of this forum; you can PM him.

If I were to recommend a 9mm Lee, it would be the 6 cav 356-120-TC. As mentioned previously, it works in a variety of guns and is a good all around weight.

I would not recommend the Lee 2 cavity molds.
